The 2600 meetings are non-official meetings which take place every first Friday of the month all over the world.

While closely related to the underground hacker world, those meetings claim to to be open to all and everyone, whithout age, skill or interest limit.

Those meeting aim at providing a way to talk about subjects that one can not talk very often, eg new technologies security or the way they change our societies.
But there is no specific topic, we just talk about what we want. :)

The 2600 meetings are since the last of the 1980 decade. Readers of the 2600 Magazine (hackers and non-hackers) have been meeting in the big cities of the USA, talking about anything - new technologies, computer security, underground counter-culture, etc. These days, there are meetings all over the world, each first Friday of the month, so it's a good rally point for the underground people and a way to know them a bit better. It's also a good knowledge and contact source in the computer security field.

In France, we are happy to have several active meetings, including Paris, Rennes, Lyon, Toulouse, and of course Lille.

You will find a lot of information on the 2600fr website, especially in the forum that is hosted on this site. We also have an IRC channel: #2600fr on the irc.2600.net network.

If there is no meeting near your hometown, just create it! You will find a french translation of the official guidelines regarding the setup of a 2600 meeting.

In Lille, the 2600 meeting exists since January 2007 (several prior attempts did not succeed).
It takes place each first Friday of the month. The rally point is the Grand-Place (Main Square) of Lille, at 7:30 pm (local time, that is Paris time), right in front of the Furet du Nord bookstore.
We wait for late people until 7:45/8:00 pm, then we go to eat something, and we finally have a drink in a bar.
The 2600 Lille meeting is also a long-standing key signing party involving all the participants.

As for all the other 2600 meetings, the Lille 2600 meeting is open to all and everyone, without any condition. Feel free to join us. We publish a short report of each meeting ; the reports of the current year are all linked from this page.
